delighted to be hosting The Yoga In Healthcare Alliance (YIHA) 5-day Yoga Teacher Training programme which trains yoga teachers to deliver a yoga course paid for by the NHS and delivered to NHS patients.
About the programme
YIHA was commissioned by the West London Clinical Commissioning to design a 10-week course for people with sub-clinical health problems as
a way to support behaviour change and reduce social isolation.
Designed by expert yoga teachers and yoga therapists the programme is already proving extremely successful and we are offering an
opportunity for seasoned yoga teachers to learn to teach this same course and bring it to the NHS in their area and attempt to pioneer it there.
Within West London, GPs refer patients who meet a range of criteria, including at risk of cardio-vascular disease, presenting with
prediabetes diabetes, suffering from mild depression/anxiety, or social isolation.
- Learn to teach the evidence-based
class protocol, its methodology and reasoning.
- Understand all elements of the
protocol, including psycho-education talks, asana and pranayama, relaxation and group discussion
- Understand best practice for
working with the NHS
- Learn how to liaise with NHS staff
and Patient Champions to establish Yoga4Health programmes your NHS area
- Understand all
the policies and procedures involved in delivering yoga classes to NHS patients
Trained teachers will also become
part of the YIHA community of teachers and play a leading and pioneering role in bringing yoga into the NHS as an effective self-care intervention to promote health and well-being among patients –
and to reduce the burden placed on NHS resources.
