Welcome to Groove - the Kitchen Disco meets fitness class...

Improve your cardio fitness, tone-up and build strength & flexibility with this fun, stress-relieving class. It's the most fun you will ever have in a fitness class - guaranteed!

This fun exercise class will see you dancing to music from the 60s to today. It's kind to the joints and can be enjoyed by all ages. It's a great fun way to improve all round fitness at a pace that's right for you and will leave you feeling joyful and uplifted. Exercise that you will love

No complicated choreography, just super-simple moves that you get to do your way. All styles of music - 60's to 2000s pop, soul, latin, hip-hop, reggae, jazz, Afro-beats and more...

There's no right or left, no trying to copy an instructor, just great music and super-simple moves that you get to do YOUR WAY. Through gentle cues and suggestions I will help you to let go of inhibitions, realise that there's no 'wrong move' in Kitchen Disco Groove - if it feels good in your body, it must be right!

It's a stress-relieving, joyful, cardio workout with self-expression and sing-alongs if that's your thing!
With lots of options to get your heart thumping and your arm, core and leg strength building, or to go easier if that's what you need that day.

What should I wear for Groove?

Whatever you are comfortable dancing in!

I usually wear leggings, shorts or a jumpsuit, but this class can be taken in a skirt, trousers or jeans - anything you are comfortable dancing in.

Do I need dance experience?

You don't need any dance experience to Groove.

There's no left or right, no complicated choreography. Just super-simple moves that I teach and cue and then you dance those moves your way.

Is this a workout / fitness class?

Yes, Grooving is great for building strength, flexibility and balance as well as getting the heart rate up and it's an incredible mood-booster.

I offer lots of options and cues for how to work harder for more strength and cardio benefits.

Do I need to be fit?

Groove is literally for everyone because you get to dance at your own pace, you even get to sit down and Groove if you like.

If you want cardio and strength - you'll dance hard, if you're tired and want to take it easier you can do. We have Groovers in chairs who love the freedom to join in fully with a class while seated.

What if I can't dance?

Everyone can dance! We are born to respond to rhythmic sound and to enjoy rhythmic movement. I promise you that you will leave this class knowing you can dance!

Do I need trainers?

Nope, in the studio I encourage you to dance barefoot. Actually outdoors many of the Groovers prefer to dance barefoot too, but if you prefer to dance in trainers or boots that's cool too.

What is Groove good for?

Groove is great for feeling amazing, releasing stress, having fun, building cardio fitness as well as strength, balance and flexibility.

Everyone dances the moves in their own way at their own pace so you can really go for it, or you can be more gentle.

Can I book a private Groove for me and my friends?

Absolutely you can book a private Groove party and I absolutely love sharing Groove with groups of friends. We can even host a Silent Disco Groove in your garden!

It's a fabulous way to celebrate, have a get-together or get a dancefloor going. Prices for private Grooves vary by location but at the studio are £80 for up to 12 people for 1hr or £140 for 2 hours.

about the Teacher

Emma Groove & Pound

Emma has danced for fun all her life and loves to share her love of music and movement in her Groove, Barre Yoga and Pound classes, encouraging freedom of expression, joy, curiosity and a healthy dose of silliness.

She likes to remind us that Plato said “Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul” and that's her excuse for always breaking into dance! She believes we are all born with an innate desire to dance and that everyone should be empowered to dance in a way that feels good to them.

Emma trained with Misty Tripoli of the World Groove Movement, Marla Leigh of the Frame Drum Academy, Barre Concept and Pound. She is also our Ashtanga Yoga teacher and Studio Director!
