I'm Emma, lead teacher and Director here at Mandala. I am honoured that many yoga teachers choose to study with me and attend my yoga classes and I continue to study with my teachers as well as practicing 6 days per week.
I am humbled to be one of the very few teachers in the north to be a traditional lineage yoga teacher, having been trained to teach Ashtanga yoga by world-renowned John Scott and I continue to train with internationally loved and respected Lucy Scott.

I'm new to Yoga, which class should I choose?
Start with the class that appeals to you from the description. There's no right or wrong and you will find people of all different experience levels in every class, because it's about vibe and not experience, the yoga class that you love is the one that you should go to, and our teachers offer options and support for everyone - choose the style description that appeals from the timetable.
What type of yoga classes do you offer?
We offer 5 styles of yoga from gentle to strong and energetic. Any experience level is welcome in every class. Take a look at the descriptions in the Yoga Styles page and choose a style that speaks to you. In summary:-
- Slow and Gentle - Relaxation Hatha on Thursdays at 7:30pm
- Slow and Strong - Ashtanga Midweek Reset on Wednesdays 6pm & Mindful Flow on Tuesdays at 6pm
- Graceful & Strong - Aerial Yoga Thursdays 6pm
- Strong and Energetic - Ashtanga Yoga Mondays & Tuesdays 7:30pm, Fridays 6pm
I'm not flexible/strong/fit, can I still do yoga?
Absolutely you can and should join us whether your concerns are about flexibility, strength, general fitness, anxiety, stress...You will become stronger, more flexible, more fit, calmer and more focused by joining us - and all without any pressure but with gentle encouragement and support.
What should I wear?
Wear clothing that allows you to move freely. Leggings, joggers or shorts with t-shirts, vest tops or yoga tops. If you are opting for Relaxation Hatha bring a sweater and warm socks too.
What should I bring?
If you have a yoga mat bring that, but we have yoga mats that you can use. We also provide blankets and everything else you will need. Feel free to bring water and other than that bring as little as possible. You will be asked to leave bags, phones etc in our cloakrooms.
Is there anything I might need to know?
Please remove your shoes when you enter the studio. Silence your phone and leave it with your belongings as the doors will be locked once everyone has arrived. You are welcome to come into the practice space and set your mat up 15minutes before class.
What is membership?
Membership makes yoga and wellness available to all — from the once a week warrior to the daily practitioner, membership is our most affordable option. We also offer Pay as You Go classes, but membership helps you commit to your practice and is more cost effective if you are coming 4x per month.
